Together Alone: Conditions for Sustainability in Australian Independent Theatre

With subsidy culture on the wane and entrepreneurial, often globalised, culture becoming a necessity for survival, how can the smaller performance companies and individual pracitioners continue to create vital yet viable work that reflects and interacts with their own style, vision and capabilities? This work's central question asks: How can Australian independent theatre practitioners develop sustainable companies and careers?

Together Alone providews a non-economic and non-funding reliant framework for improved sustainability of Australian independent theatre practice. It was developed through the application of constructivist grounded theory to a unique collection of research data from the fields of independent theatre and positive psychology and is available through the University of Wollongong.
